Wai-Hwoon is a senior practitioner in Russell Kennedy's Property and Development team. She acts for property developers on all matters relating to broad acre sales and acquisitions, subdivisions and owners corporations. Wai-Hwoon also acts in large scale acquisitions and dispositions of retirement villages and aged care facilities. Acting for and advising two of Australia's largest property developers in relation to all matters in connection with their Victorian residential developments
Representing the Law Institute in discussions and negotiations with Consumer Affairs Victoria and the State Parliamentary Counsel on changes to the retirement village legislation
Advising clients on all aspects of commercial property law including sales and acquisitions, subdivision of land and property development
Working collaboratively with retirement villages and aged care facilities on restructuring, sales and purchases, resident contract preparation and legal compliance
Advising corporate, private and not-for-profit operators on compliance with retirement living law (Vic), including engagement with State Government in relation to the current reforms
Acting for Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance in relation to sales of surplus Crown land with transactions ranging in value from $30,000 to $38 million to date
Advising the Victorian Department of Treasury in the selection of a developer for the North Wharf Project (a development project ultimately worth over $100 million) through a registration of interest, expression of interest and tender process, including being a member of the Department’s review panels
Preparing and negotiating contracts of sale for commercial sites such as sites set aside for supermarkets, shops, hotels, apartments, medical centres, restaurants and schools
Preparing all documentation in relation to various types of plans under the Subdivision Act 1988 (Vic), easements, restrictive covenants and memorandum of common provisions
Sale and purchase of businesses including hostel and nursing home businesses
Advising various residential apartment developers on major sales and acquisitions, preparation of all off-the-plan sale documents, planning agreements, agreements with service or utility providers, provision of advice concerning subdivisions and owners corporations, leasing and all other matters in connection with its developments
