Jen Naughton is a Senior Associate in our Insurance and Compensation Team. Jen has extensive experience in insurance litigation matters specialising in personal injury, property damage, workplace litigation, worker’s compensation, public liability, product liability, management liability and statutory recovery claims. She has also spent time in-house as an employee relations specialist at an ASX listed company where she handled complex workplace investigations and Fair Work complaints.

She has acted in defence of compensation claims involving public liability, property damage, workplace accidents and recovery matters as well as acting in product liability claims brought pursuant to the Australian Consumer Law. She has a depth of practical experience in litigation including advising on claims brought against corporate employers, sporting bodies, local Council, residential home owners, building companies, supermarkets, shopping centres, hospitals, owners of commercial premises, exhibition centres, logistics companies and retail stores.

Jen has also spent time working in London at one of our Ally Law Partner Firms in their Dispute Resolution team where she worked on a wide range of commercial and insurance litigation matters including large scale class actions, competition and consumer claims, business interruption claims, shareholder disputes, financial misselling and historical government compensation schemes including the Horizon Post Office Scandal and the Hillsborough Disaster.

In 2023, Jen undertook a secondment with an insurer as a Senior Claims Consultant where she managed public liability and management liability claims on behalf of various sporting organisations, associations and clubs, including instructing Panel Firms in respect of litigated claims.

In her current role, she acts on behalf of the Victorian WorkCover Authority and Public Liability Insurers in relation to defending personal injury, product liability, property damage and management liability claims.


Experience

  • Worker’s Compensation - acting on behalf of the Victorian WorkCover Authority (VWA), WorkCover insurers, Self-insurers and insured employers in relation serious injury applications, common law litigation, statutory benefits and third-party recovery actions.
  • Public liability – acting on behalf of insurer and self-insurers in respect of litigated personal injury and property claims against sporting organisations, government property, logistics and transport companies, supermarkets, residential and commercial properties,
  • Management liability – acting on behalf of insurers in relation to professional negligence, bullying and harassment claims and Fair Work complaints.
  • Defending complex multi-party workplace litigation.
  • In-house employment experience at an ASX-100 listed company managing and providing advice on complex employment matters.
