Emma’s practice covers all aspects of leasing and licensing transactions. She acts for tenants, landlords, local government and state government authorities, as well as the not-for-profit sector.

Emma has extensive knowledge of retail leasing legislation in Victoria and other Australian states, and is experienced in handling tenancy disputes at mediation and VCAT.

Emma is also Russell Kennedy’s Pro Bono Practice Group Leader and leads our refugee law practice.

Experience

  • Acting on behalf of tenants, landlords, councils and state government authorities on all aspects of leasing transactions, including those relating to office, retail, development and Crown land and to telecommunications carriers

  • Acting in tenancy disputes at mediations facilitated by the Victorian Small Business Commission and VCAT

  • Advising on retail leasing legislation in all Australian jurisdictions

  • Providing Pro Bono assistance for refugee and humanitarian visa applicants

  • Acting in Federal Court, Federal Circuit Court and High Court proceedings relating to refugee matters
