Principal

Bruce is a senior member of the dispute resolution team and an expert in insurance law. He has acted for a large range of corporate and institutional corporations and insurers, acquiring extensive understanding and knowledge of insurance. He focuses on advising clients on all aspects of motor vehicle and general insurance and, in particular, on fraud and indemnity matters and the interface between motor insurers and the motor vehicle repair industry.

Experience

  • Over 35 years experience conducting all types of litigation
  • Acting for corporate and institutional clients and for insurers in particular
  • Personal conduct and supervision of large scale motor vehicle personal injury litigation and motor vehicle property damage claims
  • Recognised as an expert in fraud and indemnity matters
  • A former member of various Law Institute Committees dealing with the practice and procedure of the Courts and specific procedures for dealing with motor vehicle claims, drafting of the current Magistrates' Court Rules, and initiation of the electronic issuing of Magistrates' Court Complaints – his views on procedures, practice and documentation are often sought by clients and other practitioners
  • Drafting policies, claims manuals and procedures and advising on techniques to better handle claims, minimise payouts and maximise recoveries
  • Advising on the procedures and processes adopted by insurers and institutional clients and is at ease in dealing with these companies at all levels
