Ben specialises in providing timely and practical workplace relations, employment and safety advice to clients in the government and not-for-profit sector in Melbourne. Ben is a passionate advocate for his clients and regularly represents them in Federal, State and Territory courts and tribunals.


  • Appearing before the Full Bench of the Fair Work Commission to successfully oppose the first appeal against a decision in the Commission’s new anti-bullying jurisdiction
  • Working with employers to implement effective performance-management, redundancy and dismissal processes
  • Appearing before the Fair Work Commission and Federal Courts of Australia in bullying, enterprise bargaining, unfair dismissal and general protections disputes
  • Appearing before Commonwealth, State and Territory courts and tribunals in breach of contract, restraint of trade, defamation and discrimination disputes
  • Acting for School Principals and executive-level employees in negotiating their contracts of employment and managing employment-related disputes and litigation
  • Appearing for Department of Veterans’ Affairs in the Administrative Appeals Tribunal numerous times to successfully defend decisions of the Repatriation Commission.
  • Appearing in the Court of Arbitration for Sport on behalf of Swimming Australia to successfully defend its team selection policies at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games
  • Managing athlete, coach and support personnel behavioural and selection issues
