Astrid has extensive knowledge of water legislation in Victoria and federally. Astrid provides clients advice on a range of water law issues and drafts and provides advice on agreements in relation to reclaimed water, trade waste and water and sewerage supply. As a published author of several environmental manuals written for government departments she brings to the team a wealth of current research and knowledge. Astrid also provides detailed advice on a range of local government issues including road law, heritage, easements and restrictive covenants.

Experience

  • Representing and providing advice to local government councils and private developers in relation to town planning matters
  • Advising, representing, heritage law (Aboriginal and other) affecting private and government clients
  • Advising, drafting and removal of easements for private and government clients
  • Providing advice on removal, amendment and protection of restrictive covenants at Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and Supreme Court
  • Advising and training on road law on private and crown land
  • Advising on use and development of crown land for roads, assets and other infrastructure
  • Advising on a range of matters affecting water corporations, including recycled water, out of district agreements, sale of assets, protection of assets, planning, property and environmental law issues
  • Advising on climate change issues and changes to laws proposed at State and Federal level
  • Advising on use and development of crown land for implementation of infrastructure and how this affects native title
  • Preparing, reviewing and advising on agreements made pursuant to section 173 of the Planning and Environment Act 1987
  • Preparing, reviewing and advising on leases and licences for Crown land
  • Preparing, reviewing and advising on local laws for local governments
  • A chief author of the Victorian Water Industry Association’s ‘Legal Compliance and Information Manual’
  • Co-author of the Department of Sustainability and environment Report ‘Reducing the regulatory burden – Water Management in Victoria”, and the ‘Reclaimed Water Agreement Manual’ for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO)
