Seminar: The changing face of privacy law

On 12 March 2014, Australia’s privacy laws are significantly amended. The amendments go further than merely requiring businesses to update their privacy policy, as the new laws mandate businesses to critically examine how they collect, use and disclose individuals’ personal information.

Find out from two experts in Australia’s privacy laws how these changes affect your business and what steps you should be taking to maintain compliance with Australia’s privacy laws.  In this seminar we will cover:

  • The nature of the changes to Australia’s privacy laws
  • Highlight areas of concern of Australia's privacy commissioner
  • What steps should be taken to comply with the new landscape in privacy     Speaker Craig Subocz, Senior Associate, Russell Kennedy

Craig is a Senior Associate in Russell Kennedy’s Corporate and Commercial Group.  Craig has more than 10 years experience in advising private and public sector clients in a wide range of matters, including their obligations concerning the privacy of personal information collected by clients.     Chair Andrew Chalet, Principal, Russell Kennedy

Andrew is a Principal who leads Russell Kennedy’s Intellectual Property and Technology practice, as part of Russell Kennedy’s Corporate and Commercial Group.  Andrew draws on his 25 years of experience, gained in the United Kingdom and Australia, to advise clients on their obligations under Australia’s privacy laws.
