Substitute decision-making for participation in medical research

Across Australia, there are varying legal frameworks which govern the participation of persons who are unable to consent to medical treatment in clinical trials and medical research. The rationale behind such frame-works is that impaired adults should not be denied the opportunity to participate in research for which they
