Whilst studying for his Bachelor of Laws & Bachelor of Commerce degrees, Mark eschewed the usual hospitality jobs and obtained his real estate licence.
He worked as a licensed estate agent as he completed his degrees, right up until he was admitted in late 2009. Whilst he still has his licence, he prefers to sit on the other side of the deals these days giving legal advice in the area of property and development.
Mark believes that practicing as a licensed estate agent has given him a thorough understanding of the industry. He appreciates the mindset of the real estate agent as they try and get deals done and he can make use of his skills as a handy crossover for drafting contracts.
The experience has given Mark a fantastic commercial edge over his competitors.
Mark joined Russell Kennedy Lawyers in May 2015 from K&L Gates. He was with Middletons prior to the merger.
Mark has extensive experience in acting for and advising property developers, including preparing all pro forma sale contracts, development and marketing deeds, in addition to advising in relation to subdivisions and owners corporations, restrictive covenants and easements.
His experience encompasses acting for property owners, including private and public clients, in relation to commercial and residential sales, acquisitions and due diligence for potential purchases and dispositions of a variety of property types. He also acts for several commercial landlord clients in relation to larger leasing matters.
“Mark represents the future of Russell Kennedy and will play an integral role in making the partnership stronger and achieving our firm’s vision,” said Russell Kennedy Managing Director Paul Gleeson.
“It always gives me great satisfaction to see our people advance their careers at Russell Kennedy. This promotion recognises Mark’s talent, hard work and dedication to his clients.
