Join us to hear Kristen Hilton's inspirational story and celebrate her bold decisions in bringing about change for women. Growing up in the Goulburn Valley in a family of five girls, Kristen learnt how to manage different personalities and problem-solve. Kristen says her childhood challenged her to build qualities of strength and resilience, fuelling her passion about injustice from a young age. Juggling family, work and frequent travel, Kristen understands the importance of being real about what is achievable and acknowledges that perfection is an unrealistic expectation.

Kristen commenced her role as Victoria's Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner on 1 June 2016. Prior to her appointment, Ms Hilton has worked as the Executive Director, Legal Practice, with Victoria Legal Aid and the Executive Director of the Public Interest Law Clearing House and has extensive knowledge of current civil law and human rights issues and the needs of marginalised and disadvantaged individuals.

Both women and men are welcome to attend.

Jules Allen is a remarkable Australian with a remarkable and moving story. Guided by the philosophy that “your greatest adversity in life is your greatest gift.”

Jule’s message centres on accepting life’s challenges and using them as a springboard for positive change. Her address to TEDx Melbourne on the power of acceptance was met with tumultuous applause and a standing ovation.

Jules is an award winning Youth Advocate. For the past twenty years she has worked in youth support, child protection, as a school counsellor and in private practice for young people and families in crisis.

In 2013 Jules found herself as a contestant on MasterChef Australia. In quintessential style, she put her new profile to use by emphasising the healing power of good food in raising well-balanced children.

Jules is now the face of Australian charities such as Adopt Change and Foster Care Australia. In 2010 she re-built a condemned refuge in the Solomon Islands for women and children escaping violence and abuse.
